For a long time we have been able to observe how Shopify has established itself as one of the main platforms for those entrepreneurs and companies that want to enter the world of eCommerce. This has generated many changes within the platform, of which we seek to bring you the most relevant ones.
A few weeks ago Shopify announced the introduction of Paypal Express Checkout as a payment method for subscriptions . Previously, this option could be done through Shopify Payments. It was only available in some countries. Today we will tell you everything you need to be able to configure it within your store regardless of whether you are in Mexico or LATAM.
- You must have PayPal Express Checkout enabled
- Select a subscription app compatible with Paypal, we have tried Paywhirl and Bold Subscriptions and everything has gone great.
- Once you have finished the installation (and before proceeding to configuration) you must wait for an approval process from PayPal to be able to start making subscription payments. Normally, it takes place on the same day or within a maximum of 7 days as specified in the email you will receive from Shopify.
- And how will I know when it is approved? Paypal will send you an email to confirm that the account has been approved for subscription payments. It is very important that you know that PayPal will not ask for any additional information beyond that generated within your account.
- Once this is obtained, you can start configuring the subscriptions with the help of the app you choose.
Within the framework of Shopify Unite 2021 (the platform's largest presentation conference of the year) we hope that more payment gateways will be released for subscriptions, the favorites in the market are Stripe and Authorize. Over time, we are sure that more payment methods available in LATAM will be invited to this new way of receiving subscriptions in your store with Shopify.
Likewise, let's not forget that Shopify has just invested $350M USD in Stripe , the latter being the heart of Shopify Payments . Could it be that this platform is getting closer and closer to Mexico and Latin America? Only time and (maybe) Unite 2021 will tell us.
Stay tuned to our social networks this June 29 where we will launch the best news in real time about updates in Shopify. Since as Shopify eCommerce Experts we always seek to be aware of these changes so we can share them and they are useful to the community.
Happy Sales!
