On May 18 at Google I/O (the largest conference of the year for this technological giant), all the new features coming for the coming months were presented. The company highlighted that it is aiming to be a strong competitor within eCommerce .
Google is strengthening its alliance with Shopify, where together they will seek to offer suggestions to searches made by users in a more organic way and will send them directly to the stores that are developed with the latter.
We will explain a little more about how it will be done:
One of the ways we can find this boost is when performing a product search through Google Search. The search will give you suggestions for something exact or similar, all based on what was most sold or searched for in the last month.
Also, with Google Lens, users will be able to find products with the images or screenshots they have saved in their Google Photos gallery. A button will appear in the images that will allow you to search for the elements in the photo and then the results from the website will be displayed.
Nowadays, who doesn't watch an unboxing/review video about a product on YouTube? If you want a quick search for the product you are viewing, an option will be enabled that will allow you to redirect to that product or similar ones, allowing organic traffic to the most relevant stores.
Finally, Google announced that it plans to introduce a new feature in Google Chrome, in order to stop abandoned carts. One of the main problems of eCommercers!
When you open a new tab in the browser, a history of all pending carts will be displayed. It's like a reminder for you to finish your purchase! Points and rewards programs can even be linked and the best purchase options will be shown.
Google has realized the potential and great growth that online sales are having. Likewise, Shopify continues to position itself as one of the leading companies in this field , since it allows small and medium-sized entrepreneurs to enter the world of eCommerce.
As Shopify experts we will be very aware of all the updates on this topic and its launch in Mexico, follow us to find out!
